Mukteshwar - The Best Place for Nature Lovers

Mukteshwar a picturesque hamlet of Kumaon region is a small town and a known tourist destination in the Nainital District situiated in the state of Uttarakhand, India. It is named after a 350 year old SHIVA temple situated atop the highest point. Mukteshwar is rich in scenic beauty, with magnificient view of himalayas including “Nanda Devi”, India second highest peak. Because of its hilly topography and an ideal climate, apple orchards are attraction of this region. Other agriculture produce in the area consists of potatoes, vegetables and fruit. Mukteshwar with its cool climate is beautiful round the year. Summers offer panoramic sceneries with trees heavily laden with fruits, lush green forest during monsoons and imposingly snowfall during winters.

•  Ramgarh ( 1,789m ): 21 Kms. Famous for rich in fruit orchards and enchanting view of Himalayas. Renowned poet Rabindrnath Tagore and Narain Swamy had established their ashrams at Ramgarh.

•  Shiva Temple (7000Ft.) :- Also known as Mukteshwar Dham is one of the famous Hindu temples located on steep hill slope. The temple is believed to be more than 350 years and dedicated to lord Shiva.

•  Mukteshwar Temple :- Dedicated to lord Shiva and located on hill top at around 7500 ft.

•  Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI):- IVRI was established in 1893 and has special significance in development of veterinary science in India. The institute is spread over a large area and British architecture reflects in all the buildings. A library and a Museum are attractions to the travellers.

•  Nainital (1938m): 46 kms :- Named after Naini lake (3620 m) in circumference, discovered by an English businessman Mr. P. Baron in 1841. Naini lake surrounded by seven peaks namely Naina peak (2610m), Kilburry (2510 m),Dorothy seat or Tiffin top ( 2290 m), Snow view (2290 m),Camel back and Deopatta (2535m) and Laria kantha (2481m).
•  Bhimtal ( 1371m): 31 kms :- Named after one of the character of mahaabharata “Bhim”, is the largest lake in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand.
•  Naukuchiatal ( 1300m): 36 kms :- Literally known for its nine corners.
•  Sattal (1371m): 37 kms :- Known for seven lakes but only two lakes namely Ram and Laxman lakes exist.
•  Almora (1650m):- 47 kms. Via Sheetla and 72 kms. Via Bhowali.

•  Air Route:- Delhi - Pantnagar and from Pantnagar Airport 2 hours drive via. Haldwani, Bhimtal.
